(UK, 1156927) Browse eventsThe Humanimal Trust is the first UK charity dedicated to the advancement of “One Medicine”, the simultaneous advance of human and animal healthcare. We work to inspire human and veterinary healthcare professionals to work together to progress and advance healthcare knowledge, to share learnings and to develop joint solutions. We do this through raising awareness of the clear benefits of working together, through formal education initiatives, through fostering collaboration and through the funding of medical research which is of direct clinical relevance to both humans and animals – in areas such as cancer research, orthopaedics, neurology and antibiotic resistance. Founded by Prof. Noel Fitzpatrick, in fulfilment of a lifelong ambition, the Humanimal Trust believes in the right of all living creatures to have a pain-free and functional quality of life. We believe that if we develop medical treatments, we should make them available to all, and we believe that we all bear responsibility for stewardship of our planet and all living things on it. Historically, animals have been used to develop medicines for humans but very little benefit has flowed back towards the animal kingdom. Researchers are finding more and more overlap between animal and human medicine, and The Humanimal Trust will provide the missing piece – the focal point for formal collaboration and joint research between doctors and vets.
(UK, 1058631) Browse eventsLRMN offers free, independent and confidential advice and information on issues such as immigration, health, housing, education, welfare benefits, training and employment. We also provide counselling and therapeutic support to refugee and asylum seeking women who are victims of trafficking, domestic and sexual abuse such as female genital mutilation (FGM). We have a health project which aims to increase access to health services and healthy living activities and identify barriers to access to healthy living and health services. Although established as a support agency for refugees and asylum seekers, we are increasingly providing support for migrant communities who, although have chosen to make the UK their home, still find integration particularly difficult. The organisation is a registered charity and a company limited by guaranteed. Its vision statement, “Linking Communities Together” reflects our commitment to integration and highlights the importance of understanding and living within an increasingly globalised society. LRMN’s mission is to act as the voice for Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Refugee Community Organisations (RCOs) demonstrating harmony in diversity. We fulfil a very important job in tough economic times and budget cuts. If you are able to make a donation this would be greatly appreciated Please contact us on 02086940323 or send us an email to [email protected] if would like to fundraising or organize a fundraising event for LRMN.
