Get Exploring Trust (UK, 1166901) Browse events

YTD Raised: £165.00

GET aims to inspire people from all backgrounds to get into the outdoors, to test themselves in different environments, and to push their limits. We want to help people develop their character through exposure to challenging, exciting and inspiring experiences. The Trust offers small to medium size grants to individuals who need financial support in order to achieve this aim.  As young people are put under ever greater academic pressure and face growing social and psychological pressures through the emergence of social media and gaming mediums it has been the traditional reliefs that have been thrust aside. At times when it may be most needed, adventurous training seems to be dropping further and further down the list of priorities. We want to inspire people to take that next step, to try something new or challenging, and enhance their own expectations of what they can achieve.

Ewhurst School Governors Fund (UK, XR75500) Browse events

YTD Raised: £165.00

In conjunction with St Peter and St Paul's Church in Ewhurst, we have set up the ultimate adrenaline rush event. On Saturday 14th June, those who are brave enough will be able to climb to the top of Guildford Cathedral and abseil off using a zip-wire. Just getting to the top of the Tower is a challenge in itself - and then there's nothing between you and the ground. Recent changes in funding mean that small village schools have lost some of the subsidies that have been in place for many years - realistically schools need to have 250+ children to be economically viable and the School has 90. We are aiming to raise money to help secure the future of the school and to ensure that this generation of children receive at least the same opportunities as those who have gone before. St Peter and St Paul's Church has been at the heart of the village for over 800 years. Maintaining the fabric and keeping it alive as a place of worship - rather than as a monument is a challenge that inevitably requires more money than we can raise through normal day-to-day contributions. Whatever is raised for the Church through this event will ensure that we can kepour heart beating. Volunteers for the abseil - and there is a limited number of places - can raise funds for the School, for the Church or for both. You decise and let us know. Click on the 'Events' tab to the left of this page to find out more and book your place. Go on - be brave!

We are committed to providing an excellent learning experience within an inclusive culture of pastoral support and care: an experience built on the foundations of strong relationships, where everyone is valued. As a one-form entry school at the heart of our community, there is a real ‘family feel’ to our school and the fact that all of our staff knows and understands the needs of all of our children is a true strength of the school. As a result, here at Coombe Road every child is given the opportunity to thrive as we remove barriers to learning, ensuring that all of our children make excellent progress and achieve as highly as possible.
