(UK, 1175195) Our mission is to assess and support individuals who find themselves homeless or sleeping rough in the Birmingham area with emergency food, clothes, sleeping bags and other items where necessary. We also assist people to find accommodation, to obtain identification so that they can claim benefits and restart their lives. Tackling the problem of rough sleepers and homeless people in Birmingham should be on everybody's radar. Life on the streets is hard, and we have lost 8 of our local homeless population since Christmas alone. We are increasingly seeing more and more young people forced to sleep on the streets, with no food and little clothing and bedding.Working alongside the local organisation The Red Bag Co, Aston University staff have set up up a new charity called Helping Birmingham's Homeless (charity number 1175195) and staff and students are already making a difference as we distribute food, hot drinks, clothes toiletries and sleeping bags every Sunday night. This is a great start but we want to do more, we still desperately need donations and we have decided to ask for your help in funding the purchase of clothes, food and sleeping bags for our local homeless community. We work towards an inclusive society by offering many services, including communication and interpreting.

(UK, 1118509) The St Madoc Centre is the perfect venue for schools, church groups and youth groups to come and enjoy themselves. Set in 76 acres of Britain’s most beautiful countryside on a mile of unspoilt, secluded beach, not only is the St Madoc Centre great fun it is also a picturesque venue for conferences, weddings and leader’s retreats. The Centre provides fun learning opportunities that often incorporate environmental and conservation awareness, and this length of stay would also provide a good amount of time for team games and exploring our 76 acre site. In addition to the interests of ancient woodland, acres of ‘open space’ and a private area of beach; the Centre has a games room, sports hall and many other activities where children can be practically involved. For instance, our sustainable garden area with poultry and pigs, that supplies our on-site kitchen with produce for the children’s meals, has amazed and intrigued the youngsters and provided an excellent practical medium of introducing them to a ‘world’ that many of them have never known before.

(AU, 53838436582) Every year, the Mary MacKillop Foundation gives grants of up to $10,000 to ‘small life-changing projects’ to meet the increasing needs in the community, and in doing so continues the philosophy of ‘never see a need, without doing something about it”. In 2013 we approved 73 small life changing projects throughout Australia. As well as this, the Foundation has funded Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Tertiary Scholarships for over a decade with 50 graduates and another 42 currently enrolled. In fact one in twenty five Indigenous doctors in Australia has been supported by our scholarship. From the 64 project in 2012 evaluation reports, we can also confirm that our small community projects have touched the lives of over to 15,000 people nationally and as you might know, since 1995 we have funded over 500 projects. Last year, 10 Scholarship recipients graduated with degrees in medicine, nursing, midwifery, teaching and community management. Additionally, the Foundation has funded Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tertiary Scholarships since 1999 with 50 graduates in 2012 and another 45 students currently enrolled.

YTD Raised: £167.00PATCH - Palliation and the Caring Hospital is the first charity to specifically support specialist Palliative Care for patients in Hospitals. 55% of people die in Hospital and there is nothing more reassuring than a Doctor who can talk to you about your symptoms as accurately as you can. A number of recent reports found the care of patients in hospital who were very ill or dying, to be wanting. Only a minority of patients who could benefit from quality palliative care receive it. We are all diminished unless there is urgent improvement. PATCH was formally launched at a Civic Reception held by The Dundee Lord Provost at the City Chambers on 2nd June 2014.
