(UK, 1149463) Browse eventsLife Impact is a UK charity with staff working in Thailand. We have set up this charity to help make a difference to people, mainly the young, who through extreme poverty and human rights abuses are at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking. We believe that if we can change a life for the better, that in turn can change the world for the better. Our main goal is that of prevention but we will also seek to rescue those sold into prostitution or slavery. We aim to set up safe homes to provide immediate social, medical, psychological and educational support and bring healing. In the longer term we will establish projects that will provide ways in which these people will be trained and taught skills to help them help themselves in order to escape from the cycle of poverty.

With an active cub pack, scout troop and explorer unit we offer canoeing, rafting, sailing and a host of land based scouting activities. If you are, or know someone, aged 8-10 (Cubs), 11-13 (Scouts) or 14-18 (Explorers) who seeks fun, friendship and adventure, we're the right place! We encourage team work, fun and friendship while learning new life skills. We meet throughout the year with the summer months focused on water activities of canoeing and sailing, while during the winter months we enjoy games and practise essential land skills, such as campfire making, cooking, photography and first aid. Throughout the year we organise activities such as walking weekends, boat trips, and parties, with the highlight being the biannual summer camp. We need help to build a replacement scout hut and carry out running repairs on our curent hut. The hut is used every night of the week by our young people and we want to ensure they can continue to do so for the next 50 years.

(UK, 1135396) Browse eventsCitizens Advice Newcastle help people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers. Citizens Advice Newcastle is a registered charity reliant on trained volunteers and funds to provide these vital services for local communities. We are equipped to deal with any issue, from anyone; debt, benefits, housing, employment, consumer issues, relationships, family matters, health, education, discrimination, immigration and the law. Advisers recognise that one problem is often the cause or result of another so, rather than addressing a single issue at a time; they look at a client’s situation holistically. This way, other potential problems can be identified early or pre-empted, which prevents them escalating into anything more serious. We are a member of the national Citizens Advice service, which provides the extensive information system we use to advise clients and sets standards for advice, training, equal opportunities and accessibility in the bureau. The Citizens Advice Newcastle Service is fully accessible for wheel chair users.
