(UK, 284406) The aims of the charity are to preserve, operate and exhibit for public benefit, educational and instructional purposes and to stimulate and encourage interest in, all kinds of railway transportation systems, vehicles and equipment; to foster and support railway preservation. We operate a heritage railway along part of the former Southern Railway, a 10 miles journey between Alresford and Alton in Hampshire, using a fleet of heritage locomotives and rolling stock.Whilst we derive income from c.125,000 visitors each year, this is typically only sufficient to cover operating costs.
