(UK, 1141239) Food, Health, Education, Income Generation, Clean water and Improved Sanitation for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children and their guardians in Tabora, Tanzania TLC Aims: To provide a daily nutritious meal for hungry, vulnerable and orphaned children (OVCs) in Tabora, Tanzania until they or their families have built their own capacity to provide this for themselves (mainly through our projects, providing access to education and jobs). To facilitate access to education for OVCs through buying school uniforms and school supplies and ensuring children are able to and do attend government schools. TLC also links with the Tanzanian Children's Educational Trust to provide access to private schooling through sponsorship. To guard the OVCs and their families against disease and illness with mosquito nets, clean water, improved sanitation and health education. To test children for AIDS, malaria and other diseases and to provide treatment when necessary. To empower the guardians to care for OVCs by developing income generating activities with family members and helping families which have no able breadwinner. To particularly empower girls and women through education and skills training, income generating schemes and improved health care and nutrition to enhance their positive opportunities. * The first 3 photos in our Gallery are of Siobhan, a TLC trustee, with some of the children. YTD Raised: £190.00Our goal is that young people in the Pilton, Muirhouse and Drylaw communities of North Edinburgh are valued and supported; living lives characterised by positive, healthy and responsible choices and having a significant impact on the community including active engagement with local churches and otheragencies. The Ferrywell Youth project is focussed on young people in the age range of 10 -18 growing up in the communities of Pilton, Muirhouse and Drylaw of North Edinburgh. These communities often experience high levels of antisocial behaviour and criminal activity. Many young people are growing up without any stable role models in their lives. Through a range of activities, the project seeks to address this by providing a positive healthy environment for these young people to spend their time in. These activities include:• A weekly youth club for approx. 40 secondary age young people providinga safe place for recreational and creative activities.• Work in local schools providing support with extracurricularactivities; a drop-in centre for those at risk of being excluded and one to onesupport. • Taking young people away on outings and residential camps to enjoy awide range of outdoor activities.All this work is focussed on building relationships with the young people so that the vision of helping them make better choices can be possible. The work is carried out by the Project Leader with a team of around 12 volunteers.
