Basingstoke NeighbourCare (UK, 1154382) Browse events

YTD Raised: £190.00

Basingstoke NeighbourCare provides an accompanied personal transport service to elderly people in the community who have limited mobility. Our volunteers enable people to stay independent and remain in their own homes for longer. Our transport service assists those who are unable to use other forms of public transport, as elderly and infirm people need a little help with mobility. Volunteers using car transport people to medical appointments and therapy sessions, enable a visit to a loved one, help them to the library, take them to older persons’ clubs, or simply take them shopping. Through one-to-one befriending, volunteers help to reduce isolation and loneliness. Befriending volunteers talk to those who are in need of company over a cup of tea or help with reading or form filling. We rely on our team of dedicated volunteers to provide our services to the community. NeighbourCare received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2020. This is a tremendous achievement for the organisation and their 100 volunteers are immensely proud of helping over 500 people in the local community. We need funds to cover the costs of providing a regular transport service, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm and publicising the services we offer.
