Many of the original founders of our group have been volunteering in developing countries, fundraising and raising awareness of some of the challenges that are faced in Africa and Asia, amongst others, for over 10 years. As a group of friends, most of us Paramedics,we came together in 2016 to work on our first group project in Cameroon. This work involved assisting in the construction of the building of a health centre, as well as working alongside local medical staff in it. It soon became obvious to all of us that a number of our colleagues had wanted to do something similar. With an amazing amount of support from the general public we decided to set up Volunteer Medics as a Charity to provide a quality volunteering programme with the Ambulance Service, associated health care professionals and friends in mind. So here we are!
