Every week in Northern Ireland another three children or young people are diagnosed with cancer. Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC) is a local charity that offers practical and emotional support to children, teenagers and young adults aged 0-24 and their families who are living with cancer. Currently, the charity delivers eleven services throughout Northern Ireland, which not only support the child or young person who is ill, but their parents/carers and brothers and sisters also. NICFC provides additional support to young people who have a parent or guardian living with cancer through its Young Shoulders programme. The Newport Parents Association (NPA) exists in order to further improve the conditions and facilities available to all students, teachers and other members of the Joyce Frankland Academy community. Founded with the vision of the ‘love I bear learning’, we realise Dame Joyce Frankland’s original purpose, set in 1588, through our values. We also recognise her wider vision, that students and staff would be ‘good members of the Common Wealth’ ensuring that all members of the community flourish. The NPA do all we can to support the ambition to provide the highest quality of education to those in and around Newport.
