One to One is a small local charity which organises social activities for adults with learning disabilities in North West Surrey. At present our members range from 18 to 70. They are a group of wonderful, friendly and supportive people. Our evenings and weekend events are always lively and full of fun because of them. The enthusiasm with which they join in the activities be it bingo, dancing, games or crafts, is unrivaled. They have a genuine empathy with each other.Our volunteers are an extraordinary group of people from different backgrounds, who freely give their time to help andsupport them. They are on hand to help during an evening or weekend activity to ensure that everything runs smoothly. These volunteers share their time with the members,providing them with the confidence to participate confidently in everyday life. The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod was established in 1947 to promote peace and goodwill between nations and to provide education and knowledge of the arts through the delivery of an annual festival of music, folklore and dance. It is acknowledged as one of the foremost world festivals and has been nominated for a number of awards, including the Nobel Prize for Peace. During the first week of July in the beautiful town of Llangollen, Wales Welcomes the World, with singers, dancers and instrumentalists from around the globe take part in a variety of competitions adjudicated by leading names from the world of music and dance. The festival site also features additional stages with performances from both competitors and world music acts. In the evening, the 4000 capacity Pavilion plays host to a variety of concerts including world-class artists and the prestigious Choir of the World competition. The annual International Parade of Nations held during the week sees all competitors march, sing and dance through the town - a spectacular and colourful event enjoyed by hundreds. It attracts some of the world’s best artists and musicians but is rooted in its local community, committed to engaging with the local community through its volunteering, outreach projects with community groups and schools, and the heart-warming Inclusion Project. Our aim is to provide orphaned children in Zimbabwe with an opportunity for an education. Many of these children are cared for by grandparents or other family members who struggle to find the money for their food, let alone school fees. By doing this we hope to fulfil their aspirations and dreams for the future without the worry of fees and other financial difficulties. It costs as little as 15p and as much as 70p per day to send a child to Primary school and 43p to feed a child for a day. We currently support a number of children attending 5 schools surrounding Harare, Zimbabwe. The children are selected by us on recommendation from their school or by a family member. The numbers of children are always changing and growing as move up to high school or graduate. We currently sponsor around 63 children 6 schools.
