Over the years, we have become one of the most trusted and effective voluntary based community organizations, working hard to improve the lives of those in need.
Carlisle Cathedral Fratry Project

It aims to realise the Cathedral’s vision to be a place of discovery, celebration and challenge. This project will allow us to make the historic Fratry building open and accessible to the whole community; to develop our work of teaching and learning and to provide a wonderful space for schools and educational groups. We will also be able to create a new Café and hospitality area and achieve better quality, connected facilities to welcome all the Cathedral’s visitors. We have raised £3 million towards the cost of the Fratry Project. Can you help us raise the final £450,000?

(UK, 1140790) Boomerang is a charity based in the North West region. The charity was set up by a Bury mum Emma Birkett, as she grew continually frustrated by the lack of services available for disabled children in the North West for her daughter. In May 2011 Emma is hoping to open a multi-sensory play learning centre for children with disabilities. This facility will have a large play area with slides, trampolines, ball pools, and a sensory room, stimulating projector lighting, tactile equipment and relaxation areas. Since 2007 Emma and her committee have been fundraising and have raised over £200,000. The premises have been found, and the lease will be signed very soon. Emma is hoping to have the site up and running by May 2011. Once the centre is open it will offer thousands of children in the North West what every able bodied person has the chance to access............A fun, safe, adapted play centre that meets their needs.

The projects have ranged from digging fresh water wells, building churches, schools, home and pig farms as well as helping to establishing a number of different micro-projects, one of which was a bakery we setup. In 2013 I ran three half marathon and raised almost £1000 Helping the Hatians people of Haiti. Please watch a short video to see what a difference your help has made over these past 5 years. On the 6th April 2014 I will be lining up with 1000’s of other men and woman aiming to complete the Manchester Marathon. When they arrive here—often exhausted, traumatised, and with nothing but hope—they deserve not just safety, but welcome. Bromsgrove & Redditch Welcome Refugees (BRWR) exists to offer exactly that. We are a small, volunteer-led community group with a big belief: that every person seeking refuge should be met with kindness, dignity, and the chance to rebuild their life. Since our beginning, we’ve helped refugee families settle into our towns, access education and healthcare, learn English, find friendship, and feel a sense of belonging again. But the journey doesn’t end there. Many families carry deep wounds—loss of home, loved ones, and identity. Through practical support, community sponsorship, and compassionate connection, we walk alongside them as they take their first steps toward a new life. From collecting essential household items, to supporting school placements, to offering conversation, transport, and advocacy, every act of help makes a real difference. BRWR is powered entirely by volunteers and generosity. Every donation goes directly toward supporting refugee families—providing essentials, emergency help, integration support, and moments of joy and dignity that remind them they are not alone.
