(US, KURT VONNEGUT MEMORIAL LIBRARY INC - N/A) Browse eventsThe Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library champions the legacy of Hoosier author Kurt Vonnegut and the principles of free expression, common decency, and peaceful coexistence he advocated. This year, we are excited to partner with Beyond Monumental and Run for a Cause for the first time. Please consider supporting KVML through the Monumental Marathon, Half Marathon, or 5K run on November 4th. Get out there and run the very same streets that Kurt ran/walked/hung out on as a teenager in the 1930's and 40's. Kurt was adamant about common decency and advocating for the underdog, and we at KVML work to continue his legacy in this 2017 Year of Vonnegut and beyond. With your help, funds earned will support future programming for Indy residents and visitors to the city from all over the world. Some of our staff will be out there running with you. Others will man a drink station. And keep an eye out ... Kurt Vonnegut "himself" may give you a high five and cheer you on as you go by! Contact Meredith Cummings, Director of Programs and Donor Relations, at [email protected] or call 317-797-2648 for more information.

(UK, 1191316) Browse eventsWe inform, empower and support people living with HIV their negative partners, family members, close friends and carers so they can live healthy active lives, free from stigma and prejudice. We offer FREE online support to anyone over the age of 16 who is living with or affected by HIV. Having the opportunity to talk to someone else who is also living with the same health condition is very powerful and recognised by HIV experts and clinicians as a vital part of modern HIV care. This approach is often referred to as peer support, which forms the central part of the way we work. We also recognise the importance of supporting those who experience poor mental health and all our volunteers and staff delivering peer support hold a recognised mental health first aid qualification or have also experienced poor mental health at some point in their life. The online peer support service is available across the UK and includes British nationals living or working overseas. We believe universal access to peer support is an essential part of HIV care which builds confidence and empowers people to live well, whilst fulfilling their life goals and ambitions! We believe HIV negative partners, family members, close friends and carers of people living with HIV are given to up-to-date information and can also access HIV support. Like any life changing health event, having the support of loved ones and those closest to them is so important and can make a real difference at a very difficult time. Our wider aim is to support people who are at high risk of acquiring HIV and poor sexual health. Improving knowledge of modern methods of HIV prevention is vital if the UK is able to achieve the goal of ending the transmission of HIV by 2030. Our aim is to support people who use medications such as PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post Exposure Prophylaxis) to prevent them getting HIV.
