(UK, 298603) Browse eventsFreeways is a charity that supports people with a learning disability based on the outskirts of Bristol and covering North Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset. Our aim is to use person centred approaches to support individuals to be as independent as possible, an active member of their community and most importantly enjoy themselves. We work with people in residential homes and supported living accommodations run by our sister charity Freeways Trust, their family home or privately rented accommodation. We can also support people in the community or at our day centre. Freeways also benefits from a hydrotherapy pool which does amazing work supporting anyone in the community who may benefit from its warm water or needs a more hands on approach to increase or maintain movement or mobilisation. Freeways is funded by local authorities and although this covers what people need and ensures there are excellent staff available to meet these needs, it unfortunately does not cover additional expenses such as birthday presents, day trips or holidays. This doesn’t stop our fantastic team of managers and support workers from helping people achieve goals for themselves and enjoy fun, stimulating and meaningful activities at home, in the local community and further afield. Freeways vision is to be a provider of choice and we work to assist the people we support to lead fulfilling lives. Freeways mission is to ensure QUALITY support, a focus on WELLBEING of the people we support and our dedicated staff, and to ensure we focus on EVOLUTION of services.

Our aim is to establish the first centre in the UK with a permanent research team that can operate in the same way that leukaemia and breast cancer researchers have done for many years with a considerable degree of success. We also support the staff at The St Johns Hospice, St. Johns Wood, London, by trying to make their everyday working experience as enjoyable as we can.
