(UK, 1131350) City Year recruits 18-to-25-year-olds for 11 months of full-time volunteering as near-peer tutors, mentors and role models in schools in deprived areas across London and Birmingham. By dedicating a year of service through City Year, young people inspire pupils and act as a catalyst to change their world. In turn, the experience of supporting children changes City Year’s volunteers, known as corps members, turning them into self-confident leaders who have the passion, values, experiences and skills to make a success of their own lives and make a difference to their communities.

(UK, 1058964) Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.Stanton Vale is an all age special school located in Long Eaton, working with pupils primarily from the South East of Derbyshire but also from Derby City, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. We welcome children as young as 2, to join our specialist nursery. They can then learn, grow and develop in the same setting, staying with us until the age of 19.The children and young people who come to us have a range of needs and abilities but are primarily categorised as Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) or Complex Learning Difficulties (CLD/PMLD). However, we try not to talk about disability. Our culture and ethos is very much about abilities and how we can nurture and develop skills and knowledge to help our pupils for life beyond school. Please donate to support our cause. As a school we have our own fundraising committee made up of parents and staff. The committee is constantly trying to raise money to provide things to improve the schools facilities and resources. We are currently fundraising to have the outdoor areas of school revamped and rejuvenated to provide a playground with specially adapted swings and roundabouts, a sensory garden to provide our more complex pupils with the chance to learn and experience their environment through touch, sound and smell. Amongst other things we would also like to have an allotment area for our more able pupils to grow their own produce. All this is very expensive and we need as much help as possible to reach our goal with your support and help we will get there quicker, so please donate and help us. We registered as a charity in October 2010 to try and maximise the opportunities available to us as a charity. The emphasis is on raising money but with a lot of fun and excitement as well!

YTD Raised: £90.00The charity which was established under a mining trust provides a major community hall for the inhabitants of Glenrothes (both those who formerly worked in the mining industry and the local community generally). It has sporting sections (Darts, football, golf, angling and snooker which are all very active). It operates minibuses for its member, has trips for the elderly, supports bereavement, makes donations to other local charitable and voluntary organisations and provides cultural and musical entertainment for the community. It operates a community café that is very well used and provides catering for a number of functions. The rooms can be hired out at very low rates (often free dependent on who may be using it) to any local people and groups and it is well used by the Fife Council. The charity is run by a band of volunteers who are the four trustees who give a huge amount of time and work with a management committee in order to undertake these activities and provide rooms for the local community. The principal source of income to operate the charity comes from its wholly owned trading business Glenrothes Recreation Centre and Social Club which operates the bar facility (and gaming facility) the entire profits of which are gift-aided to the charity every year. In addition to the gift-aiding the profits an occupational licence is also paid by the Club to the Charity in the sum of £20,200 per annum.
