(UK, 1134650) Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.Intermission Youth Theatre (IYT) is a pioneering arts-based youth mentoring programme working with 16-25 year olds from across London who are at risk of offending, ex-offenders or are lacking in opportunities. Each year we run a drama programme for 25 young people from different nationalities, different boroughs and of different faiths. Through weekly workshops, Summer School, a month-long theatre production and regular mentoring, IYT helps improve confidence, raises ambitions and aspirations, while developing critical thinking skills to better prepare the young people for making life choices.We use Shakespeare plays to inspire our work because the issues he wrote about over 400 years ago are still relevant today: knife crime, gang warfare, postcode rivalry, jealousy, love, bullying, rage. We reimagine his original works, interspersing his text with contemporary Street language to create our own unique productions. IYT is a youth engagement project from the Parish of Holy Trinity and St Saviour's, Upper Chelsea, in the heart of London, working with young people of all faiths and none.
