There are over 1200 children in the region who have life-limiting and terminal conditions. These children cannot be cured and are not expected to reach adulthood.

Kinfest

YTD Raised: £255.00The aim of Kinfest is to alleviate the isolation felt by kinship children and their carers, by providing opportunities for them to share recreational time together so that they may support each other. Each year Kinfest organises two holidays, a Christmas meal and get together and various regional day trips. Some lifelong friendships have begun at Kinfest. During the holidays there are a number of events organised to promote families spending time together. In previous years the organised events have included a Sunday roast lunch, a circus skills workshop, a magic show, a BBQ, sports day and ‘bring a dish’ evening to name a few! In 2016 we were also able to offer a training session for kinship carers for the first time. Training which is automatically offered to ‘regular,’ foster carers but is seldom offered to kinship carers even though our children can face many of the same issues. Kinfest is a registered Charity number 1171491 and is run entirely by volunteer kinship carers, all funds raised are used to fund future Kinfest events. Please feel free to contact any of us via the facebook group, Kinship “Foster” Carers, if you have a query, would like to help fundraise, or join in any of the activities being organised.
