YTD Raised: £260.00

Welcome to Alex's Angels Foundation, a registered charity founded by 17 year old cancer survivor Alexandra Turner. Alex's Angels Foundation supports children, young people and their families in the North East and Cumbria who have been diagnosed with cancer whether malignant or benign. WHERE IT BEGAN At the age of 15 Alexandra was diagnosed with a rare form of Larangeal cancer, statistically 1 in every 100,000 children are diagnosed with this, the last case being in the North East over 20 years ago. Alexandra became a patient at the RVI Great North Childrens Hospital in Newcastle. It was then she decided being a patient wasnt enough! She expressed her wish to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust to help other Children like herself on the ward. She set up a fundraising cause and named it Alexs Angels her wish was to raise £50,000. She invited family and friends to spread the word and dubbed them TEAM ALEX. Along the way she also had the support from many strangers. In just over 12 months TEAM ALEX had raised a grand total of £53,000. Alexandra had achieved what she set out to do but yet it still wasn't enough. Alexandra still had a desire to help Children with cancer but felt she needed to do so on a more personal level supporting Children individually, she decided to turn Alexs Angels into her very own charity. On 3rd June 2016 she became the founder of Alexs Angels Foundation, a charity which provides much needed financial support to Children with cancer and their families. MISSION STATEMENT Alexs Angels Foundation provides financial support to Children with cancer and their Families in the North East and Cumbria. The Foundation also raises awareness in childhood cancers, we AIM to put a smile on Children and Young peoples faces as well as relieving the financial burden on their families.

YTD Raised: £260.00

FFLAG is a national organisation that promotes the well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their families and friends. We offer support and information through our confidential helpline and email answering service. All calls are answered by parent volunteers who have themselves got an LGBT child. We have been supporting LGB people and their families since 1993 and have recently been joined by parents able to support transgender people and their families. FFLAG’s website receives 900 to 1,000 visits a month from people looking for help and information and we support hundreds of families and individuals every year. Many parents won’t be expecting it when their child comes out to them. Even the most caring of parents can find it difficult to adjust to the idea that their daughter or son is LGBT. FFLAG is here to support those parents and to help them build an open, honest and loving relationship with their child. We know that many LGBT people find it hard to come out to their parents and we also offer support to them based on our years of experience. We have supportive literature and booklets; we give talks to groups, schools and businesses; we attend Prides and conferences both in the UK and Europe. We signpost callers to support groups and advice, including a network of local parents’ support groups across the UK. If you or someone you know needs our support, please call our confidential helpline 0845 652 0311 or email [email protected]. Please visit our website www.fflag.org.uk for lots more information. Thank you for reading this and we hope we can count on your support to help keep FFLAG flying.
