(UK, 1151086) Browse eventsThe Urban Vocal Group is a free to access music charity for 11 to18 year olds who sing contemporary arrangements of current tunes and pop classics, providing professional vocal tuition and performance opportunities regardless of experience. The Charity was founded in 2008 by musician and teacher Charlie Fletcher whose aim was to create a community of young singers; offering a rare opportunity to bring young people from different areas and backgrounds together. The ethos of the UVG is simple; to offer young people access to a safe, friendly and encouraging environment which nurtures learning through enjoyment and aspiration through achievement. Members of the group not only learn correct vocal technique and multi part harmonies but also have the opportunity to write and record their own songs. Most of our young singers have never sung in choirs or had singing lessons. They do it because they love music and want everyone to do well. Over the past 8 years we have worked with hundreds of young people and hope to encourage many more to access free music making opportunities; helping them face the future with a little bit moreoptimism and a belief that they CAN achieve.
