Zamcog is a charity that is dedicated to the Shitima School in Kabwe, Zambia. The main aim of the school is to encourage a self-sustaining route through education, for children who can transform themselves from those who have no hope, to being those who are the hope for Zambia’s future.Starting off by supporting just twelve street children, Zamcog’s growth and development has now opened its doors to nearly 400 students. With the money raised from DONT WALK 2012 we hope to fund the completion of the building of a Sixth Form wing, which will prepare students for the chance to go to university, a cause very close to our hearts. It is so important to Zamcog that they ensure the school continues to grow, accommodating more children and making the school more self-sufficient whilst supporting a community co-operative. Zamcog believes in giving a hand up, not just a hand out. YTD Raised: £494.77Million Minutes enables youth action and advocacy, giving voice and support to young people (aged up to 25) to transform their lives and their world. That's because young people's energy and vibrancy is astonishing. We have faith in young people. We want a world in which young people are recognised and supported to transform their lives and their world so that all may have a life of dignity. We do this by supporting activities inspired by Catholic socail teaching (CST), that give voice and encouragement to young people. Million Minutes Big Silence and siLENT, combine the powerful witness of silence with speaking up for the ‘voiceless’ and overlooked. At the same time we provide a way to raise financial sponsorship for young people. We respond to areas of need by funding projects. We're completely convinced that young people can take their place in society, so we're supporting youth leadership projects all over England and Wales, as well as projects which help young people who are overlooked and vulnerable, so they can transform their lives. We want to help young people go further still. We to celebrate the amazing contribution young people make. The Celebrating Young People Awards honour the achievements of those truly remarkable young people who make our communities and our world a better place. Nominated by anyone from friends and family to teachers and clergy, the winners are drawn from throughout England and Wales and reflect achievements in every area of social action. Their achievements are an inspiration for us all. They show us all how ordinary young people can do the most extraordinary things.
