(UK, 1124556) ecoACTIVE is a charity with a long track record of supporting people to take action to tackle the most pressing environmental problems. Last year we launched our Hackney Loves Clean Air project in three Hackney schools. It was a huge success and we hope to run the project again in 2018. Nearly 9,500 people die early each year in London due to long-term exposure to air pollution, according to a 2015 study carried out by researchers at King’s College London.We deliver the Hackney Loves Clean Air project in partnership with local primary schools. In each school we work with children, parents and teachers to raise awareness of the causes of air pollution and its impact on the health of Hackney’s population.We support teams of children ‘citizen scientists’ to carry out experiments in their schools to measure air pollution and publicise the findings to the wider school community.We support people to take steps to reduce air pollution and minimise its impact on their health. This could involve making fewer car journeys, reducing car idling or taking a different route to school to avoid roads with very high levels of air pollution. (UK, 1129157) The Ridgeway Community School is a Local Authority maintained special school for children 2 - 19 years of age who have severe and/or profound multiple learning difficulties. The school is spread over three sites, the main site on Frensham Road, our Nursery at Pilgrim’s Way School, and our Further Education Unit which is sited at Farnham College. We provide a personalised education for our 100 pupils and, by fundraising, we aim to provide new facilities, minibuses and equipment to improve and support teaching and learning and enhance the lives and experiences of our young people with learning difficulties. We particularly support each child to develop an effective means of communication. Access to resources can open up a whole new world, hopefully becoming the start of a lifetime of simple, but effective communication, something many of us take for granted.

YTD Raised: £40.00Eccleshill Adventure Playground, known locally as The Big Swing Adventure Playground, is an open-access, free of charge adventure playground for children and young people aged 5-16 years. The playground is open 4 days a week, running after school, weekends and during school holidays. By providing and creating a safe and stimulating environment, children and young people are able to experience play opportunities that offer levels of risk and challenge which may not be available to them in other play spaces. The Big Swing Adventure Playground offers children a space to test boundaries and choose activities whilst being supervised by qualified playworkers. Eccleshill Adventure Playground also delivers an outreach service, taking adventure play into 5 different communities across the Bradford District. Alongside this we have developed an Inclusion project, coordinate and hold annual play forums and provide a playwork apprenticeship scheme. Eccleshill Adventure Playground is a small charity and relies on grants and donations to survive. Donations of money or fund raising is always appreciated. We use this money in many ways, such as buying food for our cook and eat sessions or building new and exciting play structures with the children.
