YTD Raised: £140.00

Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate. HopScotch is a long established charity providing free respite breaks for vulnerable children living in Scotland who have no other chance of a holiday.  Our annual programme runs from March to October and each year we provide 350 children with a truly memorable break at Ardvullin our beautiful respite Centre in the West Highlands. During their stay at Ardvullin children take part in a range of fun and exciting activities including horse riding, canoeing, boat trips, and visits to the beach and the sea life centre, indoor climbing and biking.  These activities help to build children's confidence, self-esteem and develop their full potential. We work with schools, young carers organisations, women’s aid groups, health charities and community groups to identify children most in need.  The majority of children who benefit from a HopScotch break have never experienced a break away from their home area and many have never been to the countryside or even visited a beach.  We firmly believe that good childhood memories last a lifetime. Please donate to support our cause. Since 1998 HopScotch has provided over 5000 children with life enhancing respite breaks and unforgettable childhood memories.  We are a small team dedicated to providing children with an amazing HopScotch experience and ensuring that every penny raised for our cause goes directly to providing children with a respite break.  We would really appreciate your support. Gurkha Welfare Trust Jersey (UK, 431) Browse events

YTD Raised: £140.00

Why support the Gurkha's in Nepal? Gurkha's defended our freedom and liberty during two World Wars and many other conflicts, fighting alongside British soldiers. Unlike the regular Army Gurkha's don't receive any Army pension and rely on our support. The 2015 earthquake in Nepal devastated their infrastructure and this county remains amongst the poorest in the world. In August 2017 Nepalese villages suffered from floods. From many Nepalese villages it requires a two-day hike to reach any medical centre, needless to say unfortunately many don't make it back to their homes. GWTJ was formed in 2014 to honour the Island’s unique relationship with one of the British Army’s most respected regiments. There are known to be at least nine ex-British Army officers living in Jersey who served with Gurkha units. GWTJ works closely with the Gurkha Welfare Trust UK, the leading Gurkha welfare charity, relieving poverty and distress among retired Gurkha soldiers and their families. The Jersey Overseas Aid Commission generously donates another £1 for every £1 raised, doubling your support. We have no administrative overheads and no paid employees or paid Trustees, so all funds raised go directly to the Gurkhas.

Helping to make a difference to Health and Education in one of Africa's poorest nations.   Health Action Leicester for Ethiopia (HALE) is the charitable arm of the Leicester-Gondar Medical Link.  This partnership started as a result of health and Education professionals in Leicester wanting to make a difference in the developing world and the strongly supported Link with The College of Medical Sciences in Gondar was established in 1996.  HALE and the Leicester-Gondar Link are primarily involved in the transfer of knowledge and skills between Leicester and Gondar, supporting the improvement of health and educational services.
