It’s been shown that having a sense of purpose and avoiding social isolation has a positive effect on health and well-being in later life. Sheds are intentionally informal in approach and welcome men (and some women) from all walks of life – whether from manual or knowledge working backgrounds – including those who can be the hardest to reach.

(UK, 1171092) Browse eventsThe Shrewsbury Food Hub collects surplus food and redistributes it to 32 local community groups. This free food improves diets and saves our groups more than 30% of their food budget. We aim to reduce food poverty, cut down Shropshire's food waste and help conserve our planet's natural resources. PLEASE SUPPORT OUR ‘HOME FOR THE HUB’ CAMPAIGN In our first year, we managed to redistribute 14 tonnes of surplus food to groups across Shrewsbury – all without a base. Each morning our fantastic volunteers collected, sorted and redistributed all the surplus food straight away. This has been great! However, we have not had anywhere to store food. Nor have we had capacity to accept food from more food outlets.A DEPOT MEANS MORE FOOD FOR SHREWSBURY Having a central base where we can sort and store food, will mean we can double the amount of food we save. Morris & Co have kindly given us a unit at Centurion Park in Shrewsbury. We need £4,500 to bring it up to the required food hygiene standards. Your money will be spent on:renovating the floor and walls installing catering sinksa hot water supplysorting tables and storage That’s quite a big number :-) but with your help over the coming weeks we know we can make it! Can you donate money or equipment, run a coffee morning at work? Please help us get more food to our community.Thank you!
