Twyford Pre-School has been at the heart of the Yalding villagecommunity for over 50 years. The recent closure of several local Pre-Schoolshas come as a sorry reminder to us all just how tricky it is to sustain avillage Pre-School in this modern age. We are so lucky to have a team ofdedicated staff & trustees and a group of wonderful parents and carers tomake up “Team Twyford”. Now, more than ever, it is important that we pulltogether to raise the vital funds so that we can give the children of our villageand surrounding communities the best possible start in their early yearseducation. Without fundraising and the continued support from family, friendsand the wider community we would simply cease to exist. We want to ensure ourPre-School remains in the village for years to come. Please donate to support our Pre-School. Thank you! (UK, 1037310) Browse eventsSituated in the centre of Hastings, East Sussex, Xtrax was formed as a charity in 1994 in response to a growing need for an independent and confidential service aimed at disaffected young people who were not connecting with the existing education, health and social provision. Xtrax operates as a ‘drop-in’ Centre where disadvantaged or at risk young people can access a range of confidential services, have a nutritious meal, take a shower, or just relax. Xtrax is non-judgemental and, unlike many organisations, it is open during afternoons, evening, weekends and Bank Holidays when young people can be most vulnerable. The drop-in centre provides an accessible and safe place for young people to get advice and support on issues that are impacting on their lives, and we regularly have young people attending who are homeless or in temporary accommodation, and some of the main issues presented include teenage pregnancy, mental health concerns, self harm, housing issues, alcohol, substance misuse, poverty, budgeting, relationship/personal issues and work/education concerns. Xtrax is widely known among the young population and addresses the fact that young people may not know where to go for help and can be extremely wary of statutory service providers. Xtrax works daily with young people at risk of educational and employment exclusion. The young people who access our centre have had few or no positive leaning experiences and as a result have few or no qualifications and therefore have few or no employment opportunities. Over 50% are care leavers and currently 60% are NEETS. The educational system has been a difficult place for them and to have the opportunity to study and learn and gain new confidence in their learning abilities, and educational resilience, within a warm, safe and trusted environment such as Xtrax can only be beneficial.

We are dedicated to making life better for strays and unwanted dogs locally and from surrounding areas. With so many abandoned and unwanted dogs entering kennels every day we are committed to finding loving homes for all of our dogs. We are a no-kill shelter who believe that second hand dogs make first class friends, and we work around the clock to raise funds to care for the dogs in our care while we search for their perfect forever home. All of the money we raise goes directly to our charity, but we can only carry on the work we do with the help of people’s generosity. We are always grateful for any donations and really could not do this without the support of people like you!We do not claim expenses for our work; our payment is seeing the dogs in our care transferred to a forever home and becoming part of a family where they are loved.
