Greek Cat Welfare Society Undo (UK, 1008057) Browse events

YTD Raised: £190.00

Greece and the Greek Islands are all inundated with stray, abandoned and feral cats. The majority of them are born in the spring and survive through the kindness of tourists who feed them. At the end of the summer season the tourists leave and then some survive through the kindness of local Greeks, some die of starvation and some unfortunately fall foul of cat hating people who poison them. Despite this, their breeding potential is phenomenal. If an average female produces three litters of four kittens annually and the female kittens go on at the same rate, the result is about 5,000 cats from a single breeding female in four years. For this reason the Greek Cat Welfare Society was formed in 1992. Our aim is to undertake neutering of colonies of stray cats and in doing so educate and encourage local people to also have their animals neutered. Trap, neuter and return (TNR) is now recognised to be the only humane method of decreasing the stray cat population, which over time will work providing TNR is carried out on a regular basis several times a year.

The Norfolk and Norwich - El Viejo Friendship Link (UK, 1156787) Browse events

YTD Raised: £190.00

Set up to support the poorest families in the El Viejo region of Nicaragua. Currently a major project for the charity is working with the council in El Viejo, local teachers and a local employee of the charity to provide schoolbags and school materials for 200 selected children of primary age so they can go to school. Without this support, the families could not afford for the child to be at school. Please see our web-site for more information. Volunteers wanted - Spanish speakers able and willing to translate our correspondence with our link representative in Nicaragua. We have to pay for this service, much appreciated but costly to us as a small organisation. We support 200 children to go to school, to learn to read and write, an essential start for their future. A Guardian article in 2015 highlighted how much this is needed: https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2015/may/19/poverty-nicaragua-children-school-education-child-labour    Our admin costs are very small, but our expenditure is outstripping our income so every penny counts! Thanking you in anticipation of donations to our cause...... Sponsored Bike Ride Saturday 24 September - see Events for details.

YTD Raised: £190.00

Radiant Family Foundation has over the years shone the radiance of benevolence from our sponsors, donors and volunteers onto the lives of disadvantaged children and Young Persons in our communities These children and Young Persons otherwise would have had no hope of: 1. A chance to rewrite their own destinies in the “A pencil of Love in a Bag of Hope” in 2018. 2.Ever walking in shoes to school through the “A Sandal on his Foot” Project in 2017 3.A festive meal over Christmas through the “Feed the Needy project” in 2016 4.Aspiring to become somebody if not for the ongoing “My Mentor My World” project. 5.Vocational training as an alternative through the ongoing “No More Streets” project. The fulfilment of all the above major projects over the years served as a motivation for our dedicated army of volunteers to accept the challenge of this year’s "The Vitality Big Half Marathon" at short notice. In anticipation for a seed capital for this year’s project of reuniting street children with their families, themed “I Need A Destiny Helper”, our volunteers shot down any doubts and are ready to push themselves to the limit over the next four weeks to be in shape for the marathon event on 10th March, 2019. Whilst grateful for your reassuring support over the years, we continue to count on you yet again as a Destiny Helper to a help a street Child run the home-stretch to reunite with their family. We aim to offer a sustainable and lasting solution to life on the street. No act of kindness is ever wasted!
