First established in the early 1960's, then registered officially as a charity in the early 1980's, Selby District Vision has been assisting local people for over 50 years.There are an estimated 2,000 people living with sight loss in the Selby District today. We are dedicated to reaching those individuals, assisting and supporting them however we can.We aim to meet the needs of visually impaired people by providing information, resources, social and recreation opportunities; promoting independence. Striving to involve the wider community in our work, we provide the public with visual awareness opportunities and have regular community fundraising events.Receiving no state funding, we rely entirely on fundraising, legacies and donations to continue our work.
