(UK, 1141333) Browse eventsLocated on historic Turl Street, Exeter is a medium-sized college in the heart of Oxford and the University. Comprising 320 undergraduates, 200 graduates and 43 Fellows, Exeter is a close-knit community of people from many and diverse backgrounds. Exeter also has strong American links, encouraged by the presence each year of 26 students from Williams College, a top American liberal arts college. The College is full of history. J.R.R. Tolkien was an undergraduate here, as were Alan Bennett, Martin Amis, and former President Kufuor of Ghana. Other former students include two Supreme Court judges and Nobel Laureate Sydney Brenner. Philip Pullman, another Exonian, based Jordan College on Exeter in his novel Northern Lights. The fictitious Inspector Morse collapsed on the lawn in our front quad. Thank you for choosing to support our college. In doing so you are joining a tradition that goes back seven centuries, to 1314, when Bishop of Exeter Walter de Stapeldon founded the College. Your gift will help to secure the educational experience we offer and enable us to transform the College as it enters its eighth century. Your support will enable us to: - Maintain and enhance the world-famous Oxford tutorial system - Support students in financial hardship - Preserve the ancient College buildings and develop our new Walton Street campus - Enhance the collegiate experience through providing an array of extra-curricular opportunities Floreat Exon!
