Insight Gloucestershire is a charity dedicated to supporting sight impaired and blind people throughout the County. Originally known as Gloucestershire County Association for the Blind (GCAB), the charity was set up in 1858 to help those with failing eyesight. Records indicate that by 1922, the number being cared for was around 600 people. Today, this local charity provides information and support for over 3000 people with significant sight loss. Unfortunately, there is every indication that, due to an ageing population, these numbers will continue to increase year on year. It is predicted that by 2050, the number of people with sight loss in the UK will be nearly 4 million. Every day, 100 people in the UK start losing their sight. Our Aims To support people with significant sight loss in Gloucestershire so they can continue to enjoy their lives and retain their independence.
