Moor Pool Heritage Trust (UK, 1148252) Browse events

YTD Raised: £330.00

The Moor Pool Heritage Trust is a grassroots local community charity run entirely by volunteers. It was set up in response to the threat of sale of the community facilities of the Moor Pool Garden Suburb in South Birmingham. This is a historic, 107 year-old estate designed by town planning pioneer John Sutton Nettlefold, and is described by English Heritage as "arguably one of the city's best kept architectural secrets". The private owner of the community facilities wants to sell them and the MPHT was created to raise the funds and manage them into the future. The facilities include two community halls, fishing pond, bowling green, skittle alley, and tennis courts. We have until September 2014 to raise the required £325,000 or these facilities will be sold to developers, and Birmingham will have lost a unique part of its history, and the local community will have lost its heart.

1961 HELPING SPECIAL CHILDREN FOR OVER 50 YEARS  2011 Established as The Handicapped Childrens Aid Committee in 1961, our working name changed to Lifeline 4 Kids in 2000. We help children throughout the UK and occasionally abroad. Our members work on an entirely voluntary basis and we have no paid staff, our administration costs being less than 1% of our income. This is unique in todays age of charities with high administrative overheads. We were formed for one purpose, to provide essential equipment to help improve the quality of life for children with disabilities and special needs irrespective of race or creed. We actively help children up to the age of 18 throughout the United Kingdom. Schools, childrens hospices, respite care homes and support centres also receive our help with many specialised items including adapted playground equipment, soft play and multi-sensory rooms. For the individual child we provide the full spectrum of specialised equipment such as electric wheelchairs, mobility aids, special beds and a variety of items including communication aids and specialised computers. We are also one of the only UK charities prepared to help a special needs child from a low-income family with essential smaller items such as shoes, clothing, bedding and specialist toys. We give emergency and welfare appeals immediate approval within the authorised limits of our welfare sub-committee. We are determined never to let a child's cry for help go unheard

St Barnabas Southwold (UK, 1157793) Browse events

YTD Raised: £330.00

St Barnabas Southwold is a small and intimate residential care home for the elderly, both men and women, who require full-time care, but who wish to remain active and integrated in a warm and friendly communal setting. As well as full-time residential care, St Barnabas offers day care for individuals who need a little extra help, or for family members who require some respite from care, during some days of the week. Or, it is for those elderly who seek company of others from time-to-time to relieve loneliness and isolation. Our aim is to support every person within our home, even when financial circumstances change, and help them live a good quality of life with dignity, embraced by an atmosphere of homeliness and individual attention throughout their lifetime. We do this by having a higher than usual ratio of staff to residents so we can dedicate our time to the needs of each individual. Donations and legacies make it possible for St Barnabas Southwold to provide a service that is focussed on creating a home from home for those we care for - often, to the end of their lives - and to relieve the burden of worry from their families and friends.
