It will be accessible to all, inspire creativity, be challenging and exciting, flexible in purpose and use natural and sustainable materials (including sweet chestnut, larch and pine, and will incorporate woodworking and traditional crafts in its construction). It will allow children to play in all weathers and in significant numbers without detriment to the health of existing trees, which will be incorporated into the design. The playground will be used by all children at the school, as well as the New Croft Club which provides after school and holiday childcare, and the 11th/9th Cambridge Scouts and Guides About NET: the organisation was set up in 1996 to advance the education of pupils at Newnham Croft Primary School.
