YTD Raised: £290.05Established for over 30 years, Peoples Trust for Endangered Species operates worldwide to protect endangered species through effective conservation strategies informed by scientific assessment. The loss of biodiversity worldwide has a direct impact on all of us: it affects world food supplies and water availability; it limits the search for new medicines; it increases our vulnerability to natural distasters and heightens the effects of global warming. Our work has never been more urgent. In the last hundred years tigers have declined by 95%, hawksbill sea turtles by 80%. Closer to home, water voles have plummeted by 90% since the 1980s and dormice are now extinct across half their original range. We are helping tigers in Sumatra, hawkbill sea turtles around South America, water voles and dormice in the UK and many other species besides. We fulfill our mission by: - funding and commissioning conservation projects that assess the problem and put effective solutions into place - leading practical conservation in the field on priority species and habitats - managing our nature reserves to protect their endangered species - tracking our progress through careful monitoring of wildlife populations - educating, inspiring and involving people in conserving endangered species.
