Not Home Alone helps battle isolation by supporting those aged 65 and over living on their own in Northern Lincolnshire with no family in the area. “Helping to make life a little happier for our local senior citizens living on their own”Not Home Alone was formed in February 2014 by four peoplewanting to make a difference to those 65 and over who live in Northern Lincolnshire and spend Christmas Day, which can be the loneliest time of the year, on their own. This year, due to wonderful feedback from guests and amazing support from the community, it is hoped to arrange more events so those who are lonely can join together for good food, great company and friendship. A massive thank you to our supporters, without whom we would not be able to host these events and be able to make a difference to those lonely and isolated in the community. Enormous thanks also to our volunteers who are invaluable in helping our guest enjoy their day. Finally no-one receive payment; every penny raised is spent on helping our guests enjoy their time with us. (AU, 237222333) Browse eventsOur mission is to create parks and protect land for people, ensuring healthy, livable communities for generations to come. Every park, playground, and public space we create is an open invitation to explore, wonder, discover, and play. We're proud to say that we've been connecting communities to the outdoors—and to each other—since 1972. Today, millions of Americans live within a 10-minute walk of a park or natural area we helped create, and countless more visit every year.
(UK, 1131792) Browse eventsOPAL is an exciting and innovative charity recognised by the HRH Queen Elizabeth for our work supporting older people in Leeds 16. We set up in January 2002 to reduce isolation for older people and to ensure that they can live safely, healthily and confidently in their own home. We do this by offering a wide range of health and social activities, information, advocacy and home support. In recent years OPAL have bought a former pub (The Bedford Arms) and have part renovated it into The Welcome In Community Centre. The aim is to have a centre where: - OPAL can consolidate our services and activities for older people into one building and so work more effectively and efficiently - The whole community can access services and activities that are not easily available to them - People of all ages can interact and so make a stronger community So far, within the centre, we have created the Welcome In Community Cafe, office space, therapy room, meeting rooms and an activity room. We are working hard to raise funds to complete the renovation which will give us a function room and therapeutic gardens.
