At our partner project, Cornerstone Children’s Home (based in south India) we currently support 33 children and young people. The goal of the home is not to be an institution but to provide a loving, safe and comfortable family atmosphere for the children. It only costs £5 to provide a child with shelter and education for an entire month. That’s as little as 17p a day to change a child’s life. Durham Winter Night Shelter is an initiative to see God end the cycle of homelessness and addiction in Durham City by providing the most vulnerable people with a safe bed and access to vital services. It has the capacity to provide emergency overnight shelter for 15 guests in the worst winter months. Each guest will be accepted regardless of individual life choices, sexuality, gender or religious affiliation. The Shelter is a safe space in which each guest can get a good night’s sleep, food and access to vital services that can help them start on the road towards permanent housing. We aim to provide guests with the ability to tackle the causes of destitution. We partner with local agencies, churches, charities and businesses to provide this service. This winter help provide a bed that can help provide a future.
