ASXL syndromes can impact any person and are under-diagnosed due to high costs of genetic testing & challenges recognizing the diagnosis. There are few evidence based publications for reference & significant unknowns. These children have complex medical issues and many pass away at a young age.

(UK, 1021465) Browse eventsThe Marlow Bottom Pre-School Playgroup is a popular and successful Pre-School, catering for the needs of children between 2 and 5 years of age. We provide a happy, warm and friendly environment where children can thrive and learn under the supervision of trained, caring and competent staff. The Pre-school is a charitable, non-profit making organisation and fees alone do not provide all the funds we need in order to offer all the vital equipment and resources required to provide a wide variety of activities for the children. Each year we have a fundraising target that goes towards the running costs, the purchase of new equipment, days out for the children and improvements to the Pre-school. It also enables us to provide a free healthy eating initiative for all the Children which consists of fresh fruit and vegetable snacks twice a day. Additional funds can help us to provide valuable resources to ensure we can offer our staff essential or necessary training which isn't always funded by the local council. It also allows us to fund extra staff hours for when we may need to provide important one-to-one time for any of our children who may need it for whatever reason. YOUR SUPPORT IN OUR FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU!
(UK, 1028286) Browse eventsEDC is a local charity which purchases specialised equipment to help local disabled children. All the money comes from fund-raising and donations and, apart from very small amounts used for essential costs, it is all used to provide help to the children. The Charity is run entirely by unpaid volunteers. EDC gives help to local disabled children who live or attend school in the West Surrey area, or are under the care of the Royal Surrey County Hospital Children’s Unit in Guildford. EDC provides equipment to disabled children to make their lives as full as possible. The equipment enables children to live more comfortably, to play in more creative ways alongside their peers and siblings, to learn more easily or to enjoy more mobility. The equipment provided by EDC is always approved by a professional in the child’s medical caring team to ensure that the item purchased is the most appropriate for the child’s needs. Because the equipment is usually so specialised, and is either tailor-made or adapted exclusively for the child concerned, it is always much more expensive than standard ‘off-the-shelf’ products. For example, tricycles are frequently recommended and give children independence, exercise and the ability to play on equal terms with other children. They cost on average about £800 each. Normally, because of budget limitations or other restrictions, such equipment is either not available from the Health, Education or Social Services or would be so delayed that the necessary benefit to the growing child would be lost. Because each child’s need is different, each applicant receives individual attention. Apart from trikes, other examples of equipment provided in the recent past include walking aids, car seats, other specialised seating systems and buoyancy aids to encourage the children to swim as independently as possible.
(UK, 700799) Browse eventsDuring 2010 Treats Children’s Charity celebrated its 25th Anniversary year, and to mark the occasion we launched ‘25 Treats for 25 years’. The charity’s aim is to raise money to benefit the Children of Derbyshire and the surrounding region. Over the years we have helped to buy a variety of items, from helping finance a new building for St. Benedict’s School Enhanced Resource Base, mini buses, medical equipment, specially developed bikes, wheelchairs to dream holidays. We are always open to requests for help and will look at anything that can benefit the lives of these special children. We have donated funds to many needy causes, to many to mention. Thanks to all of you, Treats were able to make numerous donations last year to a variety of Children & Families who just need that extra bit of help. It is with the generous support we receive from people like you that Treats Children’s Charity is able to continue to give to all the good causes who approach us for support. I hope that this gives you a quick insight as to what we are about and hopefully will help you, help us, make a difference to the lives of these special CHILDREN.

Imberhorne is the only school in West Sussex which does not have a Sports Hall despite being classified by Ofsted as an “Outstanding” school. We are raising funds to enable a state of the art facility to be built. Such a facility will also benefit the wider community as it will promote sport and the performing arts for everyone and we plan that it will be available for all to use. The School Governors have been working hard for more than a year and WSCC recently pledged £1.8m towards the building costs. Now we need to raise a further £200,000 to fullfill our pledge to the project. So far we have raised or have plegdes for about £120,000, but we need your support if we are to achieve our target. Detailed planning has been done with a view to start building in July 2012.
