Flying Horse Farms provides magical, transformative camp experiences for children with serious illnesses and their families – free of charge. Located on 200 acres in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, camp first opened its gates in 2010 and hosts about 900 children and families each year. Flying Horse Farms is the first camp in the Midwest to become a full member of SeriousFun Children’s Network. Founded in 1988 by actor, philanthropist and Ohio native Paul Newman, the Network is a community of independently managed and financed camps and programs creating opportunities for children with serious illnesses and their families. SeriousFun has evolved from one camp to a global community serving 864,000 children and families across five continents. The children who attend camp have illnesses including cancer, heart conditions, rheumatoid arthritis, blood disorders, asthma, gastrointestinal disorders and facial anomalies. At Flying Horse Farms, for a weekend or week at a time, being sick takes a backseat to being a kid. And fun is priority number one. Campers participate in activities like swimming, boating, fishing, archery, high ropes and arts and crafts. Campers receive first-rate care at our on-site health center, staffed 24/7 by medical professionals from children’s hospitals across Ohio and beyond. Flying Horse Farms is an ACA-Accredited Camp with the American Camp Association.

'Leukodystrophy' and the related term ‘leukoencephalopathy’ refer to a group of more than thirty genetic, neurological conditions that affect the myelin, or white matter, of the brain and spinal cord. The conditions are degenerative and typically severe. The majority of those affected by Leukodystrophies are children - there is no cure. The impacts of Leukodystrophies on families are devastating. The Australian Leukodystrophy Support Group Inc (ALDS) is a voluntary, non-profit organisation that helps raise funds to provide counselling, support and information to families and individuals affected by Leukodystrophy. The group also engages with the medical and scientific community in order to raise awareness and encourage a greater degree of understanding, better diagnosis and research into this devastating group of diseases.

Open Door (North East) provides poverty relief in the North East of England particularly on Teesside. We provide housing, food, sign posting and friendship to destitute asylum seekers whatever their ethnic, religious, cultural or gender background. We also provide housing for new refugees helping individuals to take steps into independent living and empowerment in the UK. We aim to provide services to the poorest and most marginalized in society and in particular to those with no recourse to public funding; with no right to work; and with no statutory provision of food and shelter. We currently manage 9 houses housing 38 people. We run a drop in for food, friendship and sign posting to other agencies. We hope to have a new Night Shelter up and running in 2011 and to increase our program of social inclusion and personal empowerment. We also hope to start providing English Classes (ESOL). On behalf of all those we serve we would like to say a big thank you for your support and financial contribution.
