(UK, 264678) Browse eventsThe London Taxi Benevolent Association for War Disabled was formed in February 1947 and in the same year, the charity organised a convoy of 25 taxis taking 50 war disabled to Brighton. From 1949 to the present day, we have made Worthing our annual destination. In 2015, over 120 cab drivers volunteered their time to take part in the trip. Other outings include trips to Normandy and Arnhem to commemorate a number of different anniversaries. London taxi drivers and committee members give their time to ensure the success of these outings through driving and raising funds. The funding of the association is purely through charity donations and collections throughout the year. The charity’s patrons include Dame Vera Lynn and Joanna Lumley.
