(UK, 1025953) Browse eventsThe Early Support Nursery is based in the High Flyers Children’s Centre on Tedder Avenue in Thornaby. The nursery is a specialist centre for children from 0 to 5 who have a disability or other special educational requirement. The nursery was formed in 1989 and was based in North Tees Hospital, Stockton. Over the years the nursery has grown as more and more children have been referred. In 2004 the nursery moved to our current premises on Tedder Avenue in Thornaby, and was renamed The Early Support Nursery. The Children’s Centre Support Group is a registered charity that was established in 1993 to support the aims and works of the Early Support Nursery. In February 2008 it was decided that the Support Group needed a name that would be recognised by new parents and professionals alike, so the working name The Friends of Early Support was introduced alongside our long established registered charity name. The Support Group has no paid staff and has running costs of less than £600 a year, our Trustees and volunteers come from our parent base, staff of the Early Support Nursery and other professionals. Since the charity has been established we have successfully raised funds for such projects as a multi sensory room, a sensory garden, a soft play area, specialist computer equipment, outings for the children and many other items and services. Our current project is to fund and build an outdoor classroom, we will have specialised outdoor play equipment with a large grassed area that will be safe and secure which will be accessible to all our children regardless of ability. We estimate this could cost around £80,000 and could possibly take around five years to achieve.
