CHiPS is a non-profit organization serving the homeless and hungry of Park Slope, Gowanus, and surrounding neighborhoods since 1971. Starting in the late 1990s, CHiPS opened the Frances Residence, transitional apartments for young, homeless mothers and their infants. Since then, 200 4th Avenue has been an invaluable resource for the most vulnerable members of the community. It is thanks to almost exclusive funding from individual and private donors, and the work of volunteers, that CHiPS keeps its doors open.

Preserving Families Securing Futures
The mission of Bistro 163 is to increase food security and offer all neighbors a place to eat and come together as one community. We offer fresh food, prepared from scratch, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Patrons are encouraged to pay more than the suggested menu price to help others enjoy a meal. If someone cannot pay for their meal, they may volunteer one hour in exchange for their meal.
