Welcome to 2nd Portishead Scout Group. We provide a programme of "everyday adventure" for over 100 young boys and girls aged between 6 to 14 in Portishead on a weekly basis. In Scouting, we believe young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing', when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves. Scouting helps develop the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, encouraging them to achieve their full potential. This is achieved through participating in numerous activities including camping, climbing, craft, archery, visits, drama, survival and sports, each tailored to the age ranges across the Sections. We also an active member of Gordano District Scouts and Avon County Scouts. Scouting to open to everyone and there is no upper age limit! Adults have as much fun as the young people! Everything the group does relies on volunteers, whether its leading section meetings, running camps, looking after the hall or raising money, our friendly and active volunteer team are always looking for extra help! Find out how you can get involved! As a group, we also aim to be at the heart of the community in Portishead. With our hall and its facilities being available for use by the wider community, the Group is also keen to get involved in community events locally. Whatever your interest, Scouting does it and more!
