Hereward is a national college, based in Coventry, with specialist facilities for students aged 16+ who have complex disabilities and learning needs. The college provides an exciting environment where students can follow programmes designed to maximise the possibilities for them to live and work independently in the future. The charity, Friends of Hereward College, exists to further the educational aspirations and ambitions of students by providing additional funds that enables them to access training, equipment and services without which they would be disadvantaged. By supporting our work you will be helping us to ensure that we continue to offer the first class opportunities our students need to make their way in the world.

VCC was established by Lynne Stewart who developed the charity from her own experiences of volunteering in India after leaving school. It is Lynne’s dream to offer others the life changing experience she benefited from. After finishing my sixth year at Elgin Academy, I went on a volunteer placement to India. From that experience I felt I became a more confident person and developed skills that I may not have if I hadn’t made that move. I would love to offer other people a similar experience. VCC has been set up to realise that dream. Lynne Stewart, Chairperson of VCC VCC not only gives volunteers the opportunity to gain new skills while learning about a different culture, but also, the opportunity to share their own skills and culture with those they meet and work with while on placement. VCC has developed a joint venture agreement with a children’s home in India and together we are offering volunteers the opportunity to work in the home to the benefit of all involved, the children and young people, the staff and YOU! VCC not only gives volunteers the opportunity to gain new skills while learning about a different culture, but also, the opportunity to share their own skills and culture with those they meet and work with while on placement.

Let me first begin by introducing ourselves. Our grandfather was known as Rambhai Prince of Baroda, which is situated in the western state of Gujarat in India. He received his prince status because he had a heart of gold. When we say a heart of gold, what he did for people there was worth so much more. Homelessness and starvation is rife in India, and we really want to help in carrying forward our grandfather’s legacy. Our grandfather ensured that anyone that turned up on his doorstep was invited in and treated like a member of the family, and fed until they could eat no more. We are a newly based charity company and we are working on our first project, which is to help raise funds for the homeless kids is KASTURBA SEVASHRAM in India. Of course there are many other institutions that require funding for various needs, but we can only take on one project at a time until we grow more. We have now raised more than £5,000 so are now registered with The Charity Commission for England and Wales. The Company registration number is 7274909 and the Charity Registration number for England and Wales is 1136542. If you would like to be part of our mission to help disadvantaged children, then please help us by making a donation. You can also support the charity on a long term basis by signing up to making a monthly donation. Donations can start from as little as £1.00. Thank You RAMVIJ
