Reading Samaritans are one of about 200 Samaritans branches across the UK and Ireland. Together, we provide a service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing emotional support to people experiencing distress or despair, including thoughts that may lead to suicide. Our service is confidential: we dont judge and we dont give advice. We do listen and provide human contact for people, some of whom may be in very great distress. We can be contacted by phone, email, or face to face by dropping in to our centre in Cholmeley Road in the Newtown area of Reading. All our work is carried out by volunteers, but we still have a building to maintain and bills to pay: it costs us around £100 per day to keep running, and we are entirely dependent on donations. Every day our phone rings over 100 times. Your support will allow us to keep answering it. Thank you!

Superhero Saturday is The Family Centre’s major fundraising event. Help us raise funds to support our work in local primary schools. The Family Centre is a non-profit community based organisation based in the Tweed Shire and established in 1988. We provide a range of services for children, young people and families that build and enhance relationships and parenting skills. All of our services are focused on improving the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and families - particularly those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged.
For almost six decades, Goodwill Central Texas has relentlessly focused on a single goal: empowering people to work. The extremely high levels of unemployment among segments of our community are unacceptable, specifically for those people who have disabilities, lack education, have criminal backgrounds, or are facing homelessness. We believe everyone matters, and that advancing business and valuing our earth leads to stronger communities where individuals and families thrive. More than 100,000 Central Texans are unable to find stable employment on their own. Our education and job training, retail stores and business services, and community partnerships enable us do whatever it takes to transform lives through the power of work.
