A charity supporting a cost-effective and socially responsible solution to waste that gives purpose and community to adults with additional support needs. Friends of Wood RecyclAbility SCIO is a charity whose purpose is to raise funds to expand and enhance the training opportunities at Wood RecyclAbility. Our vision is that Wood RecyclAbility has the funds to fulfil its ambitions, specifically: * Provision of a diverse range of tailored training opportunities for adults with additional support needs, working within the circular economy (reduce, reuse, repurpose) * Working from modern, welcoming premises * Financially secure and sustainable Wood RecyclAbility is a great example of how an organisation can be a sustainable business whilst providing an environmental and social benefit. The organisation was set up in 1997 as a small social enterprise to provide practical work experience for people with additional support needs through working with waste wood. Over the last 21 years the organisation has grown steadily from 2 staff and 6 trainees in a small croft and out buildings to 9 staff and up to 32 trainees each day in a purpose-built workshop, yard and 5 acres of agricultural land.
Our R-7 School is located just 19km from Adelaide’s CBD in the leafy suburb of Flagstaff Hill. The school is spacious with large grounds and has been established around the stunning Sturt Gorge Recreation Park. We are a school community made up of 500+ students, dedicated teaching staff, a supportive administrative team and wonderful learning support personnel who work alongside our large volunteer base of parents, grandparents and caregivers to realise high achievement for all of our students. Learning is at the core of everything we do and we foster a positive atmosphere that will encourage our student’s intellectual and emotional growth.
