YTD Raised: n/aGorton Visual Arts has been creating artwork in and around Gorton and Manchester since 2006. We meet once a week at the Aviary Community Rooms in Debdale Park. The group is made up of 18 local residents and Lead Artist Ian McKay. By involving elderly residents, vulnerable adults and residents with learning difficulties, in a safe studio environment new skills are learnt and shared. Gorton visual arts actively promote social cohesion and inclusion through the arts. We have worked on some fantastic projects including the Belle Vue Mosaic at Gorton Market , Manchester’s Library Theatre and more Recently on the Whit Walks Project with Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry.

In addition to this, WWV operates a free online database of volunteering opportunities with 2000 different organisations across the UK and around the world, matching thousands of volunteers of all ages with their ideal volunteer placement.

Every day, we work to match veterans with highly trained, loving dogs that will serve as their “battle buddy” as they navigate the challenges of civilian life. Our goal is to provide our veterans with not only a dog, but a lifelong partnership. What We Do for Veterans Veterans who come to Battle Buddies receive their therapy dog completely free of charge. We source our dogs from responsible AKC breeders or shelters, ensuring that every animal we pair with a veteran is healthy, well-suited for the role, and ready to form an unbreakable bond. But we don’t just provide a dog; we provide a lifelong support system for both the veteran and their canine companion. Every dollar we receive comes from donations, and we are proud to say that every dollar goes directly to helping veterans and their therapy dogs. Whether it's covering the cost of food, veterinary care, training, or organizing events, your contribution has a direct impact on the lives of veterans and their loyal companions. At Battle Buddies, we are committed to ensuring that no veteran is left behind. We fully support each veteran and their battle buddy for the life of the dog. Our work is a testament to the power of human-animal bonds, and we are incredibly grateful.
