Nearly half of the students also have a diagnosis of Autism. Westfield is in an area that has significant social and economic deprivation with 34% of the pupils being entitled to Free School Meals. FOWS is currently raising funds for stage two of the playground improvements. FOWS is run by a group of parents, staff and interested stakeholders of the school. All funds raised are used to buy (or contribute towards) equipment, minibuses, building projects etc. as requested by the school for the enrichment of the school experience for the pupils. Stage one of the playground improvements was completed in October 2013 and has been a huge success with the children. This included creating the structure for further developments as well new climbing equipment, swings, cone climber and monkey bars as well as a Multi use games area (MUGA). Stage two will see the inclusion of road tracks for bikes and scooters, shaded areas and seating to name but a few. Many of the children had found it very difficult to cope with being in such a large unstructured area causing them high levels of anxiety which translates into unacceptable behaviour. Stage one has dealt with many of these issues. The school now wants to build on this success to produce an exciting, stimulating, safe play area that meets the diverse needs of all the pupils. This will continue to develop and improve the childrens self confidence, increase their ablity to learn through play, improve their social skills, their fitness and their sense of well-being. A team of staff from Westfield will be taking part in the Rock solid Race in Exeter and are seeking your sponsorship for this challenge. The event consist of a 10km race with 27 obstacles. The team will be pushed to ther max. Against the clock they will be running, jumping, crawling, pulling and climbing all the way from start to finish. It will be wet, muddy and very challenging!!

Play Like a Girl!® is a Nashville-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of girls' health and empowerment. Our mission is to inspire girls everywhere to lead happy, healthy lives by promoting sport and physical activity as a path to lifelong success. We believe in the power of play to unlock girls' confidence and unleash their potential to move the world around them. However, the world is moving less, and today's generation of girls is the least physically active ever. That's why Play Like a Girl works to get girls, ages nine to 13, active early and for life. Since 2004, we've proven that active girls are happier, healthier and more successful.
We are an amateur cricket club founded in 1850, run by volunteers for the benefit of our members and the local community. We have 7 teams playing at weekends and weekday evenings and a thriving junior section with over 200 members aged 5 to 17. We also have a welcoming and friendly social section.
