(US, Trekkers - N/A) Browse eventsEach gift will help Trekkers provide local youth with life-changing educational experiences that builds life skills, raises aspirations and sets them on a self-directed course to adulthood. Now in our 24th year of service, Trekkers has made a difference in the lives of over 600 seven through twelfth-grade students from the Midcoast Maine towns of Cushing, Owls Head, Rockland, South Thomaston, Thomaston and St. George. The past year was one of growth for Trekkers. The completion of the six-year expansion plan doubled our enrollment space and allowed us to offer ALL students on the wait list a spot in our program! This meant that 2 groups of up to 20 students at each grade level participated in adventure-based learning expeditions from Acadia National Park to Washington, DC, Vermont, New Hampshire and New York as well as Colorado and Utah. At Trekkers we believe “programs don’t change lives, relationships do”. With guided support from caring adult mentors, Trekkers students work hard, have fun, form life-long relationships, expand their world views, take supported risks, build resiliency and acquire the skills they need to identify and realize their aspirations.
