(IE, CHY18073) Browse eventsAnam Cara is a national organisation founded by bereaved parents. We provide a range of bereavement support services throughout the 32 counties. More importantly, we offer peer support and understanding to families who have experienced the death of a child. Each year in Ireland about two thousand families experience the death of a son or daughter. For some, the death may have been expected through illness or a life-limiting condition. For others, it was unexpected through stillbirth, an accident, suicide or substance abuse. Anam Cara’s online and face to face services are available to all parents regardless of age or circumstances of their child’s death and are available for as long as necessary. At Anam Cara we focus on the similarities of our loss rather than the differences and provide a level of support and understanding that others cannot offer. Our bereavement as parents unites us. Anam Cara currently has nine active local groups meeting regularly throughout the country. All Anam Cara services are offered free of charge to bereaved parents and families, and as we do not receive government funding, we rely heavily on public fundraising to fund the costs of our local groups and events. We are hugely grateful to any support you can give us. Thank you!

(UK, 273185) Browse eventsOngar Music Club was founded in 1975 in the small market town of Ongar in Essex by a group of local music-enthusiasts. They presented numerous concerts, and in 1984 founded the prestigious Essex Young Musician of the Year Competition, under the generous patronage of John Lill CBE. A great many past prize winners have gone on to enjoy successful professional careers. In addition to presenting this renowned competition, the club continued to present concerts, and in 2019 launched a series of lunchtime concerts called Soundbites! With the restrictions of the Covid Pandemic the club adapted their programme schedule, and moved their concerts online. LIVE LOUNGE was created, a season of concerts exclusively on YouTube, not only for members and friends of Ongar Music Club, but also as a Community outreach programme for Care Homes in the UK, bringing music into the homes of all those who are isolated due to Covid restrictions. Many famous artists have performed in concert and given musical talks for the Club over the years. These include Dame Eva Turner, Sir Peter Pears, Stephen Kovacevich, Denis Matthews, Steven Isserlis, Richard Baker, Fritz Spiegl, Benjamin Grosvenor and The Fairer Sax. The Club was also instrumental in the formation of Ongar Jazz Club. It is this diversity of activity which has ensured the Club’s ongoing success.
