YTD Raised: £90.00

Making a difference to rural communities throughout SuffolkWe exist to help rurally isolated people in Suffolk to access services and information to improve their lives, health and wellbeing. To bring people together within communities to create local support mechanisms. This is a free service that is accessible to everyone. Why the community needs this charity Our project provides an innovative solution to the real problem of rural isolation. Loss of services in rural communities can leave residents without any means of connecting with each other, this can lead to low mood and loneliness. Accessing information is almost impossible in these situations. Our project creates a social focus with a free mobile community cafe/information centre, which offers support and the chance to meet and talk with fellow residents in the same situation. Results and outcomes Starting in 2003 as a voluntary organisation, with just one small caravan, demand for our project service has caused our project to grow enormously. We are now a registered charity with two caravans and a mobilitiy bus visiting around 80 rural communities each year. We now also run Golden Age Fairs, these alone have lead to over 1000 individuals that have been linked into services that have improved their health and wellbeing. The Michael Green Foundation (UK, 1152602) Browse events

YTD Raised: £90.00

TYPE 2 DIABETES • GET WISE. CHANGE LIVES. Our aim is to raise awareness of Type 2 Diabetes and to raise vital funding for The Michael Clements Diabetes Centre at Watford General Hospital. Michael Green was a kind and loving husband, father and friend to all, greeting everyone with his smile and warmth. It was devastating for his family and friends when he died, but through this charity, we can prevent others from suffering the same loss and thus create something good from something so tragic. With the first £10k that was raised, we built an educational dietetic kitchen at the diabetes centre at Watford General Hospital as a resource for current diabetes patients and others within our community. Our next major projects include: • providing specialist nurse training at the diabetes centre at Watford General Hospital • providing more specialst equipment for the diabetes centre. We are also in the early stages of producing a recipe book, with dishes that have been specially donated from well-known chefs, with a focus on health and diabetic-friendly foods. The book will also have useful information about diabetes, with some personal accounts from those who have lived with, and reversed their diabetic conditions...truly remarkable accounts! There are many other events planned for the coming months so please check back here regularly to see what's happening. You can also visit our website for news and for updates on our latest activities. Through collaborations with West Herts NHS Trust, The Mayor of St Albans, local business sponsorship and our trusty team of dedicated volunteers, we will continue to spread the word that a healthy lifetstyle will help to prevent Type 2 diabetes. www.michaelgreenfoundation.org Thank you for your kind donation - it is greatly appreciated. ____________________________________________________________ Sunday 13th July British 10K - London Run We have a number of runners taking part in this year's British 10K on behalf of The Michael Green Foundation. Thank you for visiting our profile page on MyDonate.Stanton Vale is an all age special school located in Long Eaton, working with pupils primarily from the South East of Derbyshire but also from Derby City, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. We welcome children as young as 2, to join our specialist nursery. They can then learn, grow and develop in the same setting, staying with us until the age of 19.The children and young people who come to us have a range of needs and abilities but are primarily categorised as Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) or Complex Learning Difficulties (CLD/PMLD). However, we try not to talk about disability. Our culture and ethos is very much about abilities and how we can nurture and develop skills and knowledge to help our pupils for life beyond school. Please donate to support our cause. As a school we have our own fundraising committee made up of parents and staff. The committee is constantly trying to raise money to provide things to improve the schools facilities and resources. We are currently fundraising to have the outdoor areas of school revamped and rejuvenated to provide a playground with specially adapted swings and roundabouts, a sensory garden to provide our more complex pupils with the chance to learn and experience their environment through touch, sound and smell. Amongst other things we would also like to have an allotment area for our more able pupils to grow their own produce. All this is very expensive and we need as much help as possible to reach our goal with your support and help we will get there quicker, so please donate and help us. Young Womens Outreach Project (UK, 1159197) Browse events

YTD Raised: £90.00

Young Womens Outreach Project has been running for 21 years. We work with young women and young mothers in Gateshead aged 11-19yrs. We support, guide young women through crisis in their lives. These Crises can be finding out that they are pregnant, problems or struggling in schools, mental health issues, rape, self harm, lack of confidence and self belief, violence or sexual exploitation, the list goes on and on. Many of these young women and mothers are referred into the project by a vast range of professionals or themselves. Once we receive a referral we visit young woman to assess needs and ensure that we are the right people to support them. We are often involved with safeguarding and we ensure our role is about supporting that young woman through the process, with open and an honest approach no matter how difficult. We offer one to one support and group work programmes, and often signpost to other services and professionals who met their needs. Intervention time can be as little as 6 weeks to 18 months. They feel less alone, listened to and supported in issues that are affecting their lives at the time. They develop positive relationships, gain support; they learn coping mechanisms and strategies. Progression leads to young women gaining accreditation, many of the young women who attend do not have any qualifications due to the complexity and the issues in their lives. We aim to re- engage young women and mothers back into education, training or employment.
