Millions of Syrians who have fled their homes because of the ongoing conflict in Syria are living in overcrowded, unhygienic and desperate conditions in refugee camps in Lebanon.As part of the UK's commitment to bring 20,000 people to safety in the UK, Waltham Forest Community Sponsorship Partnership want to bring 3 families to settle in Waltham Forest, through the community.By raising £30,000, community sponsorship enables community groups to become directly involved in supporting the resettlement of vulnerable people fleeing conflict and in need of humanitarian protection in the UK. Waltham Forest Community Sponsorship Partnership brings together mosques, churches and colleges to work together to sponsor 3 families to settle in Waltham Forest.The Waltham Forest Council of Mosques, together with the Parish of Walthamstow and Leyton Sixth Form College are raising funds to bring and support the resettlement of Syrian families.The lead charity, Waltham Forest Islamic Association, has set up a separate bank account for all donations made and all expenses incurred for the programme.
