From Cambodia to Congo, Sierra Leone to Angola, we have exposed the brutality and injustice that results from the fight to access and control natural resource wealth, and have sought to bring the perpetrators of this corruption and conflict to book. Our work has revealed how, rather than benefiting a country’s citizens, abundant timber, diamonds, minerals, oil and other natural resources can incentivise corruption, destabilise governments, and lead to war. Through our investigations, advocacy and campaigning, we seek solutions to the ‘resource curse’ so that citizens of resource-rich countries can get a fair share of their country’s wealth For more information and to read about the impact our work has had, click here In 2014 we were also honoured and delighted to be the recipient of the Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, and the TED Prize. (UK, 1079838) Browse eventsChristopher Horn was an exceptionally talented trumpet player, who died at the age of 25, having suffered from depression. During his relatively short career, he played with groups such as the London Sinfonietta, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonia. Up until the time of his death Chris had been working as guest principal trumpet with The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Chris's passion for music was heightened during two formative years as principal trumpet with The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. During his time with the orchestra, Chris co-founded a chamber ensemble - Onyx Brass. Chris made many friends whilst studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and at the Royal Academy of music, and whilst playing in the European Union Youth Orchestra, Onyx Brass and the many other professional ensembles. Tragically in July 1999, Chris took his own life. The Trust was set up in his memory and supports young brass players in the advancement of their studies.
