(UK, 1124841) Browse eventsWe are a small charity based in the UK, that supports the work of a school and orphanage in Nepal. The school was established 15 years ago, to provide an education for children from under-privileged families who would otherwise be unable to afford Nepali school fees. Situated in Balaju Height, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, the school started with just 6 students, and now accommodates over 266! Our charity has two goals: To provide ongoing financial support to the school and orphanage until it is able to be self-sustaining. To purchase land and build a new eco-school building (thus moving out of rented accomodation and creating a more stable future for the school).
(UK, SC041587) Browse eventsGiffnock Soccer Centre (GSC) was founded in 1995 by a group of Dads keen to teach their children the rudiments of football in a safe and fun environment. Since then the Soccer Centre has continued to flourish and is now the biggest youth football organisation in Scotland, with over 850 boys and girls currently at the club. At primary age level we have around 500 kids, many of who play in one of our 4 and 7-a-side teams participating in the East Renfrewshire Soccer Development Association (ERSDA) set up. GSC continues through amateur level with our teams competing in various leagues including Glasgow and District (formerly the Scottish Amateur), Paisley and District and East Kilbride Youth league. In recent years, we have provided a number of players to professional clubs including Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Partick Thistle. We also have our own girls and ladies section and have recently started our disability section. We currently have over 160 volunteer coaches, all of whom hold, or are working towards SFA Certificates and qualifications. We are fund raising to build our own 3G pitch as we have outgrown the facilities we require from the local authority. While we have secured our funding for the pitch which will hopefully start being built in August 2013 we are now fund raising to build a club house on the site and also for further pitch facilities that we hope to secure. For more information on GSC please visit us at giffnocksoccercentre.com or gscfootballfestival.com. You can also find us on facebook and twitter.
