We’re raising funds to help UK Veterans with mental health issues, whose needs are being ignored. Can you help us do this? Veterans’ Growth works with veterans from the tri-services who suffer with mental health issues. The charity aims to provide treatment and support to veterans who are unable to access help and support from the NHS or other charitable organisations, or those for whom existing treatments have been unsuccessful. The benefits of horticulture for mental health The mission is to provide horticultural therapy to veterans facing mental health issues. The physical and mental health benefits of horticulture have been widely reported. Participants will gain confidence, knowledge and experience and some will go on to find work experience and employment within the industry. The aim of the charity is to provide support and a place on the programme to every veteran in the UK who wants to attend and/or is unable to access help through other channels. If one life is saved as a result of contact with the charity we will call it a success. Any amount of investment will be justified if we can prevent just one suicide, because we believe you cannot put a price on a life. How can you help support us? Veterans' Growth has been given three buildings and land on a 79 acre farm in East Sussex from which to run, but we still need help to make sure we get everything our clients will need. Veteran suicides are increasing day by day; there is an urgent need for us to get up and running and do whatever we can to help, as quickly as possible.

The Rotary Club of Totnes now in its 56th year is a well-established, traditional and unconventional club, that enjoys its Rotary. We have 46 members, four of whom are Honorary. Our two formal meetings a month are lively, enjoyable and leave a smile on members’ faces! We provide continuous support in the local community, at national and international levels. Of particular interest to us at present is support for Bidwell Brook Special School in its ambitious scheme to provide new outdoor play facilities together with a Sensory Garden, working alongside Totnes Caring to provide local transport where required, with the Totnes Children’s Centre to create an outdoor play area and with Dart Sailability to acquire a new safety dinghy for disabled young people. We also respond quickly to natural disasters by supporting ShelterBox, and have involved ourselves in Rotary’s youth programmes nationally, and educational and humanitarian programmes internationally. All these activities benefit from the combination of our business experience, enthusiasm and drive.
